Das die Mantas jetzt im östlichen Kanal bzw. Ausenriff anzutreffen sind, verdanken wir dem Süd West Monsun. Dieser bringt zwar auch ein paar Regenschauer und zum Teil auch starken Wind aber wir freuen uns einfach nur das wir die riesen Rochen wieder in der Nähe haben.

During the last couple of dives at "Mantas and More" we have spotted a few of these big fellows. They played arround us and guided us for quite a while. There are "just a few" so far but we are sure that the rest of their family will arrive here soon too.
That they are now back here at the east side of the Meemu Atoll we owe the South East Monsoon. Even though that means we have some rain and quite a bit wind we are simply happy to have these big devil rays back close to Medhufushi.

Franziska verbrachte drei Wochen mit uns auf Medhufushi. Die Hälfte ihrer Urlaubszeit verbrachte sie mit enspannen die andere Hälfte war sie unter Wasser. Beachtliche 39 mal tauchte sie an den Plätzen des Meemu Atolls. Sie hat alle unsere Tauchgänge gesehen und dabei jedesmal etwas besonderes entdeckt. Es war ein Vergnügen sie zu begleiten wobei es schein als würde sie uns guiden. Immer wieder rief sie uns zu sich weil sie etwas besonderes gefunden hatte. Nacktschnecken scheinen ihre Spezialität zu sein. Diese Leopard Prachtsternschnecke bzw. zwei davon entdeckte Franzisca während eines Tauchgangs am Triple Rock.

Franziska has been the past three weeks in Medhufushi diving with us. Half the time of her stay on Medhufushi she has spend relaxing, the other half she has been underwater. An astonishing thirty nine times she plunged in to explore the waters of Meemu atoll. All of our dive sites she has seen and she succeeded to find a special sighting on every single dive. It was a pleasure guiding Franziska, although we had more the feeling she was guiding us, always waving us over when she found something interesting: nudibranches seems to be her specialty. This grey edged sea slug (chromodoris gleniei) Franziska found during a dive in Tripple rock, she found two of them atually!!

The monsoon is slowly starting to change from northeast to southwest. Regularly we have now west wind instead of east. Underwater we can notice now and then a strong outgoing current and more plankton in the water. It sometimes looks like ´manta visibilty´... we feel like the mantas could be waiting around the corner for us. They must be still on the way, so far we have seen only two passing by. Maybe they were trying to tell us: ´soon we´ll be there!´

Nanna, Ellie & Poppy haben gerade das Alter erreicht, um die Unterwasserwelt zu erkunden.
Den ersten Tauchgang machten wir vom Strand aus und haben das Equipment, das Schwimmen und das Atmen ausgetestet.Natuerlich haben wir dabei auch gleich noch ein paar Purzelbaeume geschlagen und mit Hilfe der Atemdusche einen enormen Wirpool kreiert. Das hat sehr viel Spass gemacht aber jetzt wollen wir natuerlich auch mal vom Boot aus, an einem richtigen Tauchplatz, tauchen.Den perfekten Tag dafuer boot Ellie's Geburtstag. Mit einem Tank auf ihren Rücken der beinahe groesser war als sie selber, sprangen Nanna, Ellie & Poppy ins Wasser. Schon beim abtauchen sehen wir ein wunderschoenes Riffdach vor uns. Das bisschen Wasser in der Maske, hervorgerufen durch ihre lachenden Gesichter unter Wasser, macht den drein gar nix aus. Ganz selbstverstaendlich blasen sie die Maske aus. Die Welt hat 3 neue Taucher! Ein Tag den man sicher nie vergessen wird!

Nanna, Ellie & Poppy have just reached the age to start exploring the underwater world. First we dive from the beach and try out the equipment, swimming and breathing. Also we did a few back rolls in the water. We made a big jacuzzi fountain with the purge button of the regulator. This was fun, but now we want to dive from the boat to see a real dive site. It is a great day to do a dive from the boat, also because it is Ellie´s birthday! With a tank on their back just as big as themselves, Nanna, Ellie & Poppy bravely jump in the water. We go down and see an amazing coral reef. A little bit of water in the mask now and then is no problem for the girls. Three small divers came to the world today, a day to remember forever.  

Gestern Nachmittag bendeten Raphael (15) und Franz (64) erfolgrich ihren Open Water Kurs, wir gratulieren!! Heute früh am Morgen tauchten wir Mantas & More in der Strömung. Der Abstieg war sehr gut, innerhalb einer halben Minute waren wir unten am Riff und sahen Graue Riff Haie und Adler Rochen. Die Strömung überraschte Franz ein wenig, aber Raphael hatte während des ganzen Tauchgangs ein Grinsen im Gesicht!

Raphael (15) and Franz (64) finished their Open Water Course yesterday afternoon, congratiolations!! And this morning we went to Manta´s and More for an early morning dive in the current. Descending down to the reef went perfect, within half a minute we were down at the reef watching grey reef sharks and eagle rays. The current surprised Franz a little bit, but Raphael had a big smile on his face the entire dive! Now they want to go again, and again and again...

"Simply The Best" war heute einfach das Beste! Ein sehr kleines Riff mit dem Namen "Simply The Best" genau vor dem Muli Kanal. Bedeckt mit Weichkorallen, Vielen Überhängen, und wo sich die Strömung teilt ist es wie in einem Aquarium: Wimpel Fishe wohin das Auge schaut! Wir tauchten ab inmitten dieser gelb, schwartz und weißen Schönheiten und erkundeten das Riff. Wir stoppten in jedem Überhang um uns auszuruhen und die Szenerie zu genießen. Als Tore unser Guide weiter tauchen will bleiben alle Taucher hypnotisiert am Riff. Als Tore seinen Kopf um die Ecke streckt und fragt: „Wollen wir, hier lang.“ Wurde dieses Foto von Phil, einem unserer Taucher gemacht .Das Foto Zeigt Tore der verwundert nach seinen Gästen schaut…

 "Simply The Best" was today simply the best! A very small reef, called Simply the Best, right in front of the Muli Channel. Beautifully covered with softcorals, several overhangs, and in the current split we find a true aquarium: Moorish idols filled up every bit of the blue water! We descended in between these yellow/black/white beautys and startet to explore around. We stoped in every overhang to relax and watch the movie that played right in front of us. When Tore, the guide, decides to continue to swim the divers are hypnotized and stay hooked on the reef. Then Tore sticks his head around the corner to ask: ´shall we?! This way!´ This photo, made by Phil, displays Tore his head sticking out from the reef watching into the overhang, wondering where his divers are…

 

Today we got lucky with this Honeycomb moray eel. Phil, one of our divers, got the moray curious enough to come out of the reef and show off her beautifull honeycomb-patterned skin.

Michel, ein Tauchlehrer aus Frankreich, der diese Woche mit uns taucht, fotografiert einen großen Schwarm Fledermaus Fische bei Mantas & More. Es ist das erste Mal in dieser Season das wir so viele Fledermaus Fische gesehen haben.

Michel, a French Instructor who is diving with us this week, photographed a huge school of batfish at our dive site Manta´s and More. It ist he first time this season we see so many batfish.
