This year has been very good for spotting Whalesharks 
, even when you did not expect to have them around 
Martin and his group of Belgium divers had the luck in Tower (one of our local divesites)
After a small discussion they agreed that it was about 4,5 meters in length
Thomas also had a lot of luck in Ras Mohammed National Park. At Shark and Yolanda Reef he and his group had a 'small' Whaleshark of about 3 meters. Then to top this they also had an Oceanic Whitetip of 4 meters cruise by them. 
Never a dull moment in the Red Sea !!

I do enjoy the way you have framed this difficulty and it does present me a lot of fodder for thought.
