Travel-Report Medhufushi

from Sabine

My husband and I visited Medhufushi between 28.09.-18.10.02. Unfortunately we had bad weather with a lot of rain and storms. Therefore the sea water was for my sense "cold" - the sun could not warm-up the lagoon water. We are non-divers and flew to this island for a relaxing beach holiday with excellent food. We wanted to snorkel only if its getting boring on the island. This were our expectations and now some comments about our experience we made on Medhufushi:

Island:
the island is very clean and well-tended and I assume, that this really costs a lot of efforts especially when it is raining. We rarely meet other guest of the resort, if you do not use the main paths even on the beach. Pleasant, and silent ambience with a suitable island architectural style.

Restaurant:
Under the management of Brian Logan the team presented excellent Buffets. The 3 Buffets per day were delicious, well thouhgt out, diversified, adapted to the international clientel. The offered variety was really remarkable for such an island. This requires a great deal of logistics and deserves respect and recognition. A little paradise for buffet-gourmands, which made the rainy days bearable with delicacies.

Beach:
The first 2 weeks: unfortunately only a few times usable, because of the bad weather, but at the west side of the island there was constantly a pleasant breeze and a beautiful beach without corals.
The Swimming on the westside was wonderful. At the east side of the island we felt like being in a sauna when the sun was shining.here we had to take care for corals and sea urchins.
The last week: corals were lying in a stripe (0,5-1,5 m) around the island in the water. This was very inconvenient. Besides I was very surprised about the plastic rubbish in the water and on the beach on the west side. But the beach was cleaned 3 times a day.

Bungalows:
Beach-Villas: neat and clean, quiet, a wonderful veranda with a calming swing; beautiful and more than functional furnished
Water-Villas:as the beach-villas, but the wardrobe is located in the open bathroom. The bathroom is very spacious. We had neither mosquitos nor cockroaches.

The room service was as we expected on an 5* maledivian island.

Staff:
Staff and Management Team tried to make our stay on Medhufushi as pleasant as possible.

The Staff in the Spa was very friendly and qualified.

Conclusion:
Medhufushi has his own charm and it is worth visiting this island. But the best on this island is the excellent food and the silent atmosphere!
