Dive Center, Sharm el Sheikh, Red Sea, Egypt

Situated on the beach at the Helnan Marina Hotel in the heart of Sharm el Sheikh (Naama Bay) and just 100 yards from the jetty, the Werner Lau Dive Centre is managed by Angel Balazs and Marc Nys and they have a team of multilingual instructors and divemasters offering all levels of instruction in SSI, Barakuda/CMAS and PADI standards.

The newly renovated dive centre is fully equipped for the requirements of today's divers. For those needing to hire equipment we are fully stocked with everything you might want:

50 Jackets (BCDs) by Scubapro
50 Regulators with octopus, pressure-gauge and inflator
100 Sets of masks, fins and snorkels by Seemann
50 Wetsuits (5mm full suits by Seemann)
10 Diving Computers (Seaman Nitrox)
10 Underwater Torches

A fully stocked workshop is on site for any technical emergencies and our staff is on hand to help with any problems.
We provide 12L aluminium tanks either with DIN or INT valves filled by our two Bauer K14 Compressors. 15L aluminium tanks can be supplied on request for a small additional charge. 12L Nitrox tanks are available free of charge to all Nitrox certified divers (15L Nitrox tanks will incure an additional charge).

All private equipment is stored in boxes at the Dive Centre and will be transported to the dive boats each day by our staff.

We offer daily diving - with two tanks per day - to any of the 30 dive sites in Sharm el Sheikh.
A free shuttle bus service is offered from all hotels to the Dive Centre in time for the morning departure and the jetty is just a short walk away once you have checked in.
All our boats are modern and comfortable and fully equipped with toilets, sun decks and of course a large dive deck where all tanks and equipment are held. A full lunch buffet is provided for only 45LE (Egyptian pounds) which includes unlimited tea and coffee, soft drinks and water.
The spacious boats leave the Naama Bay Jetty between 08.30 and 09.00 - except when visiting the wreck of the Thistlegorm - on those days we leave at 05.00 - or the wreck of the Dunraven when we leave at 06.30. Early pick-ups from the all hotels are arranged accordingly. Most days we're back at the jetty in Naama Bay by 17.00.

Sharm el Sheikh offers some of the best diving in the Red Sea and we have access to over thirty sites where we dive regularly.
The local spots - along the mainland coast - are all reachable within a maximum journey time of 70 mines while the journey to the Straits of Tiran can take up to 2 hours.
A day spent there offers a huge choice of different spots for stunning drift dives and mooring dives. Ras Mohamed to the South is 1 ½ hours away and has some of the most famous dive sites in the Red Sea.


The world famous wreck of HMS Thistlegorm lies 4 hours to the south of Sharm el Sheikh and the wreck of the 19th century cargo ship, the Dunraven, lies just 2 ½ hours away. Regular trips are made to both of these wrecks.


In addition to boat diving, shore dives are available right in front of the Dive Centre and we can arrange night dives for you or excursions to Dahab (travelling there by coach) where you can shore-dive at the Blue Hole and the Canyon.
With such a variety of dive sites to choose from, we can guarantee you some wonderful diving.

We take your safety very seriously. All our boats are fully stocked with first aid kits and oxygen and the recompression chamber - run by a multilingual doctor - is just a few kilometres away near the main harbour.

In addition to our daily diving, we offer a wide range of courses to get you started or to further your diving education. From Open-Water to Instructor courses we offer all levels of certification using the internationally recognised standards of SSI, Barakuda/CMAS or PADI.
Intro-dives:
If you would like to see what diving is all about, then we offer introductory dives of 15 to 20 minutes. In a maximum depth of 5 metres of water, you will experience the beauty of the underwater world. This service is offered on an individual basis with a diving instructor.
Open Water:
A four day course with a maximum of six people in a group. At the end of the course you will be able to enjoy recreational diving with confidence and skill. The course is divided into theory classes and practical exercises finishing with five open water dives - two of which will be from the boat on your last day. After completing the course successfully, you will receive your Open Water Diver certification.
Further Education:
If you want to take your education further we also offer advanced courses up to SSI Divecon, Barakuda/CMAS*** (gold) and/ or PADI Divemaster as well as specialty courses including Nitrox.

In addition, we offer SSI and Barakuda/CMAS instructor courses.

For all those divers the limits of recreational diving are not enough, we decided, to align with the best instructors for technical diving in Red Sea.
