The Island Bathala, North-Ari-Atoll, Maldives

Bathala lies in a channel on the eastern side of the North Ari Atoll and is 270 metres long and 150 metres wide. Because of its location, legendary dive sites with a great variety of coral and big fish await you. The house reef can safely be described as truly spectacular.

Bathala is a genuine Maldivian divers´ island. Just as we have loved the Maldives for 35 years, it shape is like a fried egg and is surrounded by a very beautiful sandy beach and a magnificent reef. It is one of the very few islands still in pristine condition. A rampant tropical vegetation including hundreds of palm trees, (giving shade), gum trees, mangroves, Scaevola trees and much more.

Small paths wind their way through the shady interior of the island, leading to the 46 rooms housed in single bungalows which blend harmoniously with their surroundings.

The air-conditioned and functional round bungalows have been built of fossil coral rock. Each bungalow has its own terrace. They are tastefully furnished and all contain a mini bar and desalinated hot and cold water. The bathrooms are built half open in typical Maldivian style.

The restaurant on Bathala will offer you buffets with a great choice of international and local dishes. You will find a delicious selection of meat and poultry dishes including grilled meats, seafood, pasta, an excellent choice of fresh mixed salads, tropical fruits in all variations, as well as an enticing dessert buffet.

Beach buffets and barbecues including many Maldivian specialties will provide further variety to the menu. The coffee shop will offer a good choice of dishes and drinks. You can book Bathala all-inclusive.

If you fancy finishing the day in a relaxed manner with a cool drink, you might like to visit the beach bar. A good choice of cocktails, beers, wines, fruit juices and non-alcoholic drinks will be offered.

Or you might seek the solitude of the beach and the cool sea breeze to enjoy your drink while dreaming under the starlit skies.

Of course, Bathala will excite divers in the first place. You can dive nearly all around the spectacular house reef and see a lot of big fish.

However, the island has much more to offer: Sport and leisure facilities including table tennis, badminton, beach volleyball, chess, darts, carom and more will be available.

Once a week the management of the island organises a disco at the beach, as well as regular folklore evenings including‚ "Bodo Beru" for your entertainment. But overall, Bathala is more of an oasis of peace and relaxation with emphasis on diving.

The resort offers the following excursions: night-fishing, "island hopping" to surrounding native islands, (some of them uninhabited), snorkelling trips and more.
