Alike & Gabriel are the manager of the stylish SSI/CMAS/PADI diving center.

 

Equipment

The diving center has state of the art equipment, thus meeting every need & requirement of their diving guests.
The quality & standard of diving equipment is unsurpassed & includes:

• 30 Jackets (Scubapro)
• 20 regulators including alternate air source, submersible pressure gauge & Inflator hose (Scubapro)
• 60 sets of masks, fins & snorkels (Seemann)
• 30 wetsuits (Scubapro 3mm shorties)
• 50 diving computers (Uwatec)
• 10 torches (Kowalski)
• 2 snorkelling & underwater cameras (Sea Life/Reef Master)

Workshop

There is an exemplary, well-equipped workshop at the diving center, where knowledgeable staff will gladly provide professional assistance & advice to those guests experiencing problems with their personal equipment.

Diving Cylinders

There are 100 x 12litre aluminium cylinders available which are filled to 215 Bars of pressure, using 2 legendary Bauer electro-compressors.

Safety

Pure oxygen, which is essential for the treatment of diving-related injuries, is available on every boat. In addition, the diving center has a small pharmacy which has a supply of assorted medication as well as emergency medical equipment which will be at the guests’ disposal on request.  If required, the nearest recompression chamber which is located in Bandos can be reached by seaplane within 55 minutes and the recompression chamber at Kuredu is reachable in 30 min with the speedboat.

Personal Diving Equipment

Our friendly staff will be responsible for providing an all round service with regards to the storage, transportation, cleaning & maintenance of our guests’ personal as well as rental diving equipment.

Thus our guests will not need to concern themselves with these menial tasks, allowing more time for rest & relaxation.

Continuous Training & Diving Courses

Internationally recognized SSI, Barakuda (CMAS) & PADI diving courses are offered & conducted in accordance with the highest international diving standards. Diving courses are furthermore conducted in exclusively small & private groups (1 instructor: 2 students) ensuring minimal stress & supremely individual training. 

The course for beginners commences with an introduction dive in the shallow water of the lagoon (approx. 1.5m), allowing participants sufficient time & opportunity to become acquainted with the marine environment & familiar with the art of breathing while submerged. Naturally, this 1 hour introduction dive will take place under the expert guidance of a diving professional.

Further training to attain certification takes 3 days. Courses are conducted by a certified professional diving instructor & will consist of 2 water sessions daily: one in the morning & one in the afternoon.

In total, approximately 6 hours of theory sessions are conducted between 17:30 – 19:30 in the evening over 3 consecutive days. Participants will receive an internationally recognized diving certification (SSI Open Water or on request, Barakuda CMAS* Bronze), after successfully passing a written exam. On request, courses & certification can also be conducted according to PADI guidelines & standards. However, it is not possible, to pre-book this course.

Additionally, training & certification up to the level of SSI Divecon, CMAS Gold & PADI Divemaster is available to advanced divers, while virtually any speciality course can be conducted for interested participants.

 

 

 

Diving area

The Lagoon

The absolutely perfect location to learn the art of scuba diving! Learning how to dive has never been made more comfortable & easier. Course participants will begin their discovery of the marine world from the 1st session, following a gently sloping sand bottom down to a depth of 3m located directly in front of the diving center.

Boat Diving Excursions

2 – 3 diving boats (Dhonies) leave daily at 9:00 & 14:30 respectively. It takes approximately 5 minutes – 1 hour to reach dive sites suitable for single tank excursions.

In addition, with a travelling speed 3 times that of normal dhonies, our speed dhoni enables us to whisk our guests away in luxury to the opposite side of the atoll for an exhilarating half or full day of diving. In addition to a fresh water shower on board, there is also a toilet at your disposal.

 

For those guests requiring the ultimate in privacy & attention, private guiding is also available. A diving dhoni will be meticulously equipped for a maximum of 2 individuals who will then be transported to & accompanied by an instructor to a dive site of their choice. Our expert staff will naturally be able to advise you on the selection of dive sites available. The departure time of these excursions will naturally be decided by you, our esteemed guests.

As many of our dive sites are located in the inner atoll, relaxed, care-free diving is ensured. Nevertheless, there are also additional dive sites which can be more challenging, thus ensuring that the needs of our more “experienced” diver are satisfied accordingly.

 

Night dives from the boat, an indescribable experience not to be missed, are offered 1 – 2 weekly.

Full day & 2 Tank excursions are offered 3 – 4 times weekly. Be transported to the spectacular channel dive sites on the west side of the atoll where magnificent marine experiences await you.

There is always a selection of high quality dive sites from which to choose which will vary in degree of difficulty, thereby accommodating each guest’s level of diving skill.

There is a stunning selection of approximately 30 dive sites, all of which are exclusive to guests from Zitahli Resorts & Spa Kuda-Funafaru & on the only rare occasion, Irufushi. The benefit of diving in these conditions cannot be over emphasized!
