MY Sheena Logbook – 19. – 26.08.2018

After all the paperwork is done, we make our first dive site of the tour.

19.08.2018

Dive 1 Dolphins Corner

We have a medium incoming current that carries us through a few beautiful shoals of fish. At the edge we find some boxer shrimps and some small stuff.

20.08.2018

Dive 1 Little Channel South

Dive 2 Western Highlights

Dive 3 Mantas and More

Little Channel South is perfect when the current is slightly inflowing. So we have the possibility to have a comfortable look at the big colourful blocks in the middle of the canal. We see two big turtles and a few giant barracudas.

At Western Highlight we have nearly no current, so we can explore the beautiful reef and found a lot of small things. In the overhangs we found some sleeping stingrays and a nurse shark.

Mantas & More was again Mantas & More. Whith outgoing current we had on the way to the edge already three manta rays flying above us. At the edge we have them all at once. Perfect!

21.08.2018

Dive 1 Mantas and More

Dive 2 White Tip Station

Dive 3 Simply the Best

Because it was so beautiful, we dived Mantas & More again. It was like a repeat of the first dive. Again we had three manta rays on the way to the edge and at the edge the whole spectacle.

At White Tip Station the fast flowing current brought us quickly to the canyon. Lots of fish, a few grey reef sharks and large schools of barracuda await us here.

Simply the Best was beautiful. We discovered a lot of small stuff, including three really great nudibranchs and two mantis shrimps.

22.08.2018

Dive 1 Happy Corner

Dive 2 Rakedhoo Kandu

Dive 3 Alimatha Jetty

A perfect start into the day at Happy Corner. We have a medium incoming current and great visibility. We are surrounded by sharks and are able to cross the canal. Then we drift through the overhangs at Lucky Reef and let four Mobulas pass us.

Rakedhoo convinces again with the unique overhangs and huge amounts of small things. A few fat Napoleons and big barracudas are part of the show again.

The Alimatha night dive rocks as always. There are again at least 50 nurse sharks and some stingrays as well as many hunting jacks. Fantastic!

23.08.2018

Dive 1 Miaru Kandu

Dive 2 Fiyaathoshi Thila

Dive 3 13 Eagle rays

Miarua Kandu provides us a strong outgoing current. Cool! We have about 20 grey reef sharks and 8 eagle rays on the corner. We hook in here and enjoy the spectacle for about 25 minutes.

Fiyaathoshi Tila has a lot of snappers and some big green turtles.

13 Eagle Rays is pure madness. At the deep canyon we have again many silver tips, which come very much you to check us out, pure adrenalin!

24.08.2018

Dive 1 13 Eagle Rays

Dive 2 Kandooma Thila

Dive 3 Guraidhoo Corner

Because everyone wanted to do it again, we did another time 13 Eagle Rays and the canyon today. We don’t have the same strong current as yesterday but we can stay a little longer at the canyon. Unfortunately we don’t have quite as many silver tips as yesterday but it is still a cool experience.

Kandooma Thila is great! Lots of fish and also some sharks and eagle rays during the whole dive.

Guraidhoo Corner, a awesome dive site! We crossed the canal and saw about 50 grey reef sharks and at the very end a school with about 30 Mobulas passed by. How awesome!

25.08.2018

Dive 1 Kandooma Thila

Dive 2 Fish Factory

Last day of diving and a good end of the trip. Kandooma Thila shows its best side. We have some sharks, a school of eagle rays and as always a lot of fish. A nice, relaxed dive.

The last dive of the day is a dustbin dive. The reef itself is nothing, but the action that goes off there. Lots of moray eels and many, many stingrays are looking for the remains of fish from the fish factory here. The guests are thrilled!

26.08.2018

That’s it again. We had a great week, with great guests and many impressive experiences under water. Thank you and see you next time…
