Dive No. 1 – Dolphins Corner

A beautiful day at Filitheyo, Sheena is cleaned and fresh for the new arrivals. All the guests arrived at noon, check-in done. As we wanted to do a check dive we had a light lunch and went to Dolphins corner for an easy drift dive. Good visibility and a mild current going out of the atoll, we saw couple of stingrays, a baby eagle ray playing around with divers, few white tip sharks. So was a nice way to start the trip.

Dive No. 3 Mantas & More

Light outgoing current at Seven sting rays channel. At the front of the thilas were hundreds of yellow back fusiliers and neon fusiliers. Many white tip reef sharks and some baby grey reef sharks. Three big sting rays were just lying on the sandy bottom. There was also an eagle ray which swam past the divers.

Small to medium out going current at western highlight. We spend about 30 minutes with the huge school of fusiliers where big tunas were cruising around, couple of eagle rays were swimming over head. Along the reef were a lots of other reef fishes. And most importantly we found a huge black frog fish.

We had no luck with mantas at mantas and more, but few grey reef sharks, napoleons, some turtles, white tip reef sharks, lots of snappers were at the reef.

Dive No. 1 Mantas & More

Dive No. 2 Simply the Best

Dive No. 3 White Tip Station

Today it was great at mantas and more. We had three mantas at the cleaning station. So we spend the whole dive watching the magic show from the gentle giants

Simply the best was an easy relaxed dive swimming around the amazing Giri. The reef was full of tiny little bait fishes. Many long nose hawk fishes, some nudibranchs, two sting rays were on the bottom. The top reef was so beautiful with nicely grown hard corals.

At white tip station we had a mild to medium incoming current. So we cross the channel easily seeing plenty of grey reef sharks, few silver tip shark and some white tip reef sharks as well. There was a school of 12 eagle rays passing by. As we got back to the reef for safety stop, we met a huge school of barracudas and a lot of big eyed trevallies.

Happy Corner with a strong out going current, we saw a lot of yellow fin barracudas, big eyed trevallies, some very friendly grey reef sharks and a lots of red and black snappers at the safety stop.

Out going small current at the channel, was an easy drift dive along the reef. We had two big grey reef sharks at the corner, few napoleons and a turtle. As well as many snappers, sweetlips and fusiliers were seen during this dive.

At night on the house reef of alimatha island, we were amazed by the number of nurse sharks and many sting rays. There were also a lot of jack fishes hunting on the smaller fishes.

Current was mild incoming at the channel and then changed to out going at the middle of the dive. Some white tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, two sting rays and some barracudas were encountered. An octopus and two scorpion fishes were also spotted during this very easy relaxed dive

Beautiful visibility with a mild incoming current at golden wall. We had a great dive drifting along the wall full of soft corals.

Fottheyo was with a strong incoming current. The overhangs at the channel front were amazing with so much big soft corals hanging front the celling of the overhangs. Few grey reef sharks and some eagle rays along with big tunas were to see.

Dive No. 3 Western Highlights

Just few minutes after the sun rise, we jumped into the blue water at Fottheyo kandu. Spent about half an hour at the open ocean, we were very lucky to spot two great hammerhead sharks who came up to 20 meters, we also saw a big wahoo swimming in the blue. After some time in the blue we came back to the channel edge and saw few grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, many schooling snappers and a curious female napoleon swimming very close to the divers. This was a great dive.

Shark point was with a mild out going current. Two grey reef sharks were at the corner, white tip reef sharks were seen from time to time, a school of yellow fin barracudas and a lot of red snappers were seen during this dive. We also me a nurse shark sleeping under a big coral block while we made our safety stop.

At western highlight we had strong out going current. As we had strong current, we went down to the bottom and waited at the reef front for most of the dive. There were a school of 20 big and small dog tooth tunas, two eagle rays and a plenty of fusiliers to see. Four blotched stingrays were resting on the bottom. And also many other reef fishes including big eyed trevallies, different snappers and more.

At kingdom of fish we had a mild out going current at the beginning of the dive and it changed to incoming during the dive. So much marine life and healthy corals to see at the thilas inside the channel. Grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, sting rays, dog tooth tunas and fusiliers all over the dive site was amazing.

Last dive of the week we made at filitheyo outside. This was an easy dive with a mild out going current. Plenty of white tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, sting rays, schools of red snappers, humpback snappers, oriental sweetlips and a big nurse shark resting under a coral block towards to the end of the dive. So many of bat fishes were swiming with us as we came up for the safety stop.

Overall, we had a great trip with 13 friendly and fun divers.
