MY Sheena Tour Filitheyo – Filitheyo 21. – 28.10.2018

We been really lucky and could start already at the arrival day with two dives.

21.10.2018

Dive No. 1 – Filitheyo House reef

Dive No. 2 – Dolphins Corner

This tour starts and ends in Filitheyo. As we had three divers who are staying onboard for two weeks, we made a morning dive to filitheyo house reef. We started the dive at one wreck and finish the dive at the other wreck. Some white tip sharks, two eagle rays, a lot of garden earls at the sandy bottom near the wrecks were found.

This was the check dive for the tour. Nice and easy incoming current with favorable visibility at dolphins corner was amazing. We had more than a few white tip reef sharks, two sting rays, many tunas, two Manta rays came really close to divers. On the way to finish this dive we had a friendly turtle and a family of napoleons at the safety stop. A perfect tour start.

22.10.2018

Dive No. 1 Five Rocks

Dive No. 2 Ari Beach Beru

Dive No. 3 Fiyaathoshi Kandu

It was great to swim through the rocks full of soft corals and sea fans, some white tip sharks, and a lot of reef fishes including sweet lips, butterfly fishes, angelfishes and few nudibranches. At the safety stop was a huge school of blue line snappers.

Unfortunately, no luck with finishing whale shark, but we had a couple of hawksbill turtles, sting rays and some white tip reef sharks as we drifted along the big reef.

Strong out going current at fiyaathoshi kandu was good too. Couple of white tip reef sharks, a blotchy stingray was at a cleaning station for a while. Two big grey reef sharks were seen close to the end of the dive. Many big eyed travellies were also there. Divers were very happy to swim around the coral blocks full of soft corals.

23.10.2018

Dive No. 1 Just like the old times

Dive No. 2 13 Eagle Rays

Dive No. 3 Alimatha Jetty

Medium current at just like old times was great. There were many white tip reef sharks, some grey reef sharks, some eagle rays and few dogtooth tunas. A huge school of red snappers were at the reef front.

At the very beginning of the dive we met the school of eagle rays, it wasn’t 13 this time but 12 eagle rays were just hovering at the corner. At the canyon we met three big silver tip reef sharks and couple of grey reef sharks. At the end of the dive was a turtle and lots of humpback snappers.

As always this was a highlight of the trip. There were more than 50 nurse sharks, some sting rays, a lot of big jack fishes were at hunt.

24.10.2018

Dive No. 1 Miyaru Kandu

Dive No. 2 Dhevana Kandu

Dive No. 3 Golden Wall

Plenty of grey reef sharks and white tip reef sharks were swimming just in front of us for some time. A school of five eagle rays just stood in front of the divers as we hooked ourselves in front of the plateau. At the end of the dive were barracudas and some white tip reef sharks.

With a mild out going current, sharks were staying in shallow sandy bottom. Just at 12 meter, we spend the whole dive with few big grey reef sharks. One of the sharks was massive, it looked like it’s pregnant. There was also a porcupine ray and a feather tailed stingray.

Two big grey reef sharks and some white tip reef sharks were seen at the beginning of the dive. Nice soft corals grown on the coral blocks at the corner. We found a very sleepy electric ray who didn’t bother to wake up even when we get so close to him. Along the wall was full of soft corals and a nice and friendly turtle meets us at the very end of the dive.

25.10.2018

Early morning we started the dive in the blue and had a giant hammer head shark which came very close to one of our diver. The last 30 minutes we were at the reef. Was great to be in the overhangs full of soft corals and we found few white tip reef sharks and some grey reef sharks. There were four eagle rays at the reef front as we are about to go for the safety stop.

At rakeedhoo kandu we saw a lot of big eyed travellies, two white tip reef sharks and a grey reef shark with an eagleray swimming in the blue. A banded mantis shrimp in its hole. At the end of the dive was a turtle busy eating sponges on the top reef.

At happy corner we had medium incoming current. So we crossed the channel easily seeing dozens of grey reef sharks, baby silver tip sharks, many white tip reef sharks. A lots of rainbow runners and jack fishes were at the channel front as well. This was really happy dive at the happy corner.
